WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
1. CHECK IN & INTERVIEW:
“The First Step” table. We will ask questions about you, your work history, and questions to help us match you to the right agencies.
2. AGENCY HALL:
Using the interview paper, a volunteer will help you find the agencies you should visit in the "Take the Step" Agency Hall.
3. VISIT: Using the interview paper, go visit with all the agencies that were recommended to you.
WORKSHOPS: There are three great workshops you will want to sit in.
REST & SNACK: There will be FREE snacks and water. This will give you energy to visit more agencies
4. PLAN:
"The Next Step" volunteers in the snack area will help you come up with a plan. What will you do with this new information?
What if I can’t visit all the agencies during the event?
You will receive an agency directory with contact information.
Do I need to do the interview?
Yes, the main purpose of the event is to help you connect with the agencies that can help you get the help you need and the type of work you want.
How long will the interview take?
The interview will take about 20 minutes.
How long will I need to stay at the event?
The time you stay at the event depends on how many agencies you want to visit. You could stay a couple of hours.
Water, snacks, and rest
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and stay for the entire four hour event, if needed. We will have a place for you to sit and rest and will have free water and snacks to keep you energized.
Will there be transportation help available?
Transportation will be available from Tyler Transit and from GoBus. TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Will there be childcare available?
Childcare will be available from Champions for Children for children 2 to 12 years old. CHILDCARE INFORMATION
What do I need to bring?
Examples of things you may want to bring (if you don’t have them, come anyway, we will help you get them):
ID, education and work history, resume if you have one, work permit, disability status, immigration status, etc.
